[Things have been pretty stressful recently, between his argument with Xion, Vanitas' surprise attack on Axel, and the impending possibility that he could strike again. Fortunately, with Sora's return to Luceti, Riku's feeling a bit better today, and he'll be spending the evening out and about. Aqua's still kidnapped, which means he'll have to work on his magic on his own, but the battle dome can wait a bit.

For now, he'll chill by the fountain with his journal in hand. Even with everything cooling down, Riku's got a lot on his mind, and one question in particular's been bugging him.]

Seems like we've got a few new threats to worry about. I'm sure that with the Blue Rogues and Brave Vesperia on the job, it'll be pretty safe, but doesn't it bug anyone that we can't do more to stop them? All we can really do is hold them back. Even death's just a temporary solution.

[He sighs. Mostly, he's just venting.]

Anyway, there's something I've been wondering. How many of you come from worlds where light and darkness actually means something? And by that I mean more than just lamps and shadows.

Consider it suspended. Are we talking like alien face-huggers other worlds here or is this some kind of alternate reality scenario? Seen a few movies like that.

He's got blue hair and an X-shaped scar. Most of the Organization wears black coats-- I've got one too, but only to blend in and keep my darkness in check.

It is. Where I'm from, there's darkness in every heart and every world. The only exceptions are the Princesses of Heart.

Depends on who you talk to. The worlds I've seen are more like alternate realities, but I wouldn't call them that. They're all self-contained, but they still exist in the same universe.

My best friend saved me, but even then, I had to deal with my darkness.

But it turns out that pushing away the darkness made things worse. People kept telling me to choose light or darkness, but it wasn't until I chose the middle path that i became stronger.

None. Maybe he's taken a hint, but I doubt it.

We've seen him before. You can't shoot him or hit him with anything.

Universal exceptions- those get tiresome if you ask me.

Yeah, they do. They make you impossible to track, and they protect you from the darkness. Plus, in this weather they're pretty convenient.

[...well then, that's new. He'll just go along with it, though.]

So far, they're the only exceptions I've seen. Even Nobodies can use darkness, and they don't have hearts.

Makes sense, especially if he's made of light.

Well, I'm a lot stronger because of it. I still use darkness to fight, but I don't plan to sink into it again.

Xion's. She talked to one of her friends about it.

Smart friend. Think it's actually going to work long-term?

It's a spell I read about recently. A beam of light that is powerful enough to rend entire continents in twain.
