[...okay, so when was the last time he did this? Three years ago? ...ha. Right. It's really been three years since he came to Luceti.

Well, after a few moments of just staring into the journal, Riku clears his throat and decides to speak up.]

You know, it's been three years since I came here, but it feels like I'm just going through the motions. Everything's just so routine. Maybe I'm just not making enough effort to shake things up. Hard to say, but...

Okay, you know what? I think I should just get to the point. So... yeah, name's Riku, and I'd say I'm in need of some friends. Yes, Kairi, I'm actually doing this by choice this time.

[Because last time was just awkward.]

And for anyone else who's been here a while, got any pointers for keeping busy long term? I know at least some of you keep pretty busy. Heck, if any newcomers have pointers, I'll take just about anything right now.

Yeah. I'd be happy to teach you a couple more weapons. So just mull it over and contact me whenever you decide on a couple. We can teach at your pace too.

It'd be easier if I had a decent way to narrow it down. Guess I could always drop by the smithy and see what they think.

Hey, of course it's good enough. They just supply weapons, so I figured getting a close-up look might help.

Oh. [ Relief! Crisis averted, Riku! ] Good luck with that. I haven't actually talked to anyone in the smithy, but they seem like really cool people. I hope they know what they're doing.

I'm sure they do. I mean, they've been getting good business for a while now.

Yeah. If they were out of business, or always lacking in weapons, that'd be a really bad sign!

Well, I doubt we have anything to worry about. With so many fighters around, I'm sure they're here to stay.

That's right. Weapons will always be in demand, and even if they weren't, they'd still show up.

Heck, I'm sure things that aren't in demand find their way here.

I wonder if one day they'll ever respond to us instead of just listening in.

Sometimes they do contact us over the journals, but usually it's on their terms.

Well, yeah, I knew that. I just meant one of them suddenly barging in on a conversation two people are having. Not them contacting us or making an open dialogue.
