stilldontgotit: (cloak - magic clothes!?)

37 - action/voice;

[Things have been pretty stressful recently, between his argument with Xion, Vanitas' surprise attack on Axel, and the impending possibility that he could strike again. Fortunately, with Sora's return to Luceti, Riku's feeling a bit better today, and he'll be spending the evening out and about. Aqua's still kidnapped, which means he'll have to work on his magic on his own, but the battle dome can wait a bit.

For now, he'll chill by the fountain with his journal in hand. Even with everything cooling down, Riku's got a lot on his mind, and one question in particular's been bugging him.]

Seems like we've got a few new threats to worry about. I'm sure that with the Blue Rogues and Brave Vesperia on the job, it'll be pretty safe, but doesn't it bug anyone that we can't do more to stop them? All we can really do is hold them back. Even death's just a temporary solution.

[He sighs. Mostly, he's just venting.]

Anyway, there's something I've been wondering. How many of you come from worlds where light and darkness actually means something? And by that I mean more than just lamps and shadows.

Well, where I come from, there is light and dark magic. Dark magic is mostly rumours and legends - apparently, the Black Mage Zeref could use darkness magic to twist life into a mockery of itself, and Brain, another powerful mage, used it in its raw form, to simply cause destruction.

As far as light magic goes, my guild's master Makarov has a powerful spell which instantly defeats all of the people who he considers his enemies within a certain area. Also... [She briefly thinks of Gerard, but decides not to mention him. The memories are still painful.] there are others; it's much more common than darkness-based magic.

So dark magic wasn't exactly a good thing. Sounds pretty standard, but messing with life? Any idea what that means?

[A mockery of itself... sounds twisted.]

Huh. Sounds pretty powerful, not that I'm surprised. I've seen what light can do, and it's in a league of its own.

Yes; I've seen some of it first hand. From what I can gather, he could bring life into inanimate objects, such as trees and mountains, and use the monsters that resulted to destroy entire civilizations. Unfortunately, he left a lot of his creations lying around, sealed away for just about anybody to find.

[She nods.] No matter how bad things may seem, light is always capable of dispelling the darkness and evil that surrounds us. That's what the master says, and so far, he's always been right.

Most of the time, he would be, but darkness doesn't have to be used for evil. Whenever I tried to push the darkness away, it only made things worse.

[Heh.]

It wasn't until I embraced light and darkness that I found true strength.

Yes, if done properly, I could see that being a powerful combination. Certainly a difficult one to find weaknesses for, in any case.

How would rejecting darkness make a situation worse?

[Voice]

[identity profile] stilldontgotit.livejournal.com 2011-01-23 08:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Because that darkness was a part of my. By pushing it away, I rejected a part of myself, all because I was afraid.

[Voice]

[Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads - /shot]

I see. [She's not going to bother asking what sorts of things resulted - she knows too well what could happen through Gerard's example.] And how do you use this darkness in a beneficial way?

[Voice]

[identity profile] stilldontgotit.livejournal.com 2011-01-25 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
[...pretend that 'my' was 'me'. Oh, typos.

In any case... heh. Beneficial.]

Because I don't use it to cause problems for other worlds. Even though I use darkness, I don't let it control me. The path I've chosen is between light and darkness; I use it to fight, but only against real threats.

[Don't worry about it; I make mistakes like that all the time.]

And what sort of threats would those be?

[Voice]

[identity profile] stilldontgotit.livejournal.com 2011-01-25 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
Groups like Organization XIII. It's made up of beings called Nobodies-- people who lost their hearts to darkness, and their goal's to become whole again.

The problem is, they're willing to risk innocent lives in order to get there.

Yeah, but some of them ditched the Organization, and out of the two that are still loyal, the only one to worry about is Saïx.

[Voice]

[identity profile] redhairedknight.livejournal.com 2011-01-25 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
That's good; assuming their name is indicative of how many people are in the group, I'd hate to have all thirteen present. [she's fought with powerful but oddly small organizations before - it did not end well] How powerful is this Saix person? Do they have any distinguishing features?

He's got blue hair and an X-shaped scar. Most of the Organization wears black coats-- I've got one too, but only to blend in and keep my darkness in check.

Do those cloaks have some kind of magical property, then?

[Voice]

[identity profile] stilldontgotit.livejournal.com 2011-01-28 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, they do. They make you impossible to track, and they protect you from the darkness. Plus, in this weather they're pretty convenient.

[Voice]

[identity profile] redhairedknight.livejournal.com 2011-01-31 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
Sounds useful. Where could I get one of these cloaks?

[Voice]

[identity profile] stilldontgotit.livejournal.com 2011-02-01 06:23 am (UTC)(link)
You'd have to steal one; I doubt they carry spares here.

[Voice]

[identity profile] redhairedknight.livejournal.com 2011-02-01 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Too bad. Sounds like it could have came in handy. [Plus, stealth isn't exactly her strong point.]
