[Things have been pretty stressful recently, between his argument with Xion, Vanitas' surprise attack on Axel, and the impending possibility that he could strike again. Fortunately, with Sora's return to Luceti, Riku's feeling a bit better today, and he'll be spending the evening out and about. Aqua's still kidnapped, which means he'll have to work on his magic on his own, but the battle dome can wait a bit.
For now, he'll chill by the fountain with his journal in hand. Even with everything cooling down, Riku's got a lot on his mind, and one question in particular's been bugging him.]
[Filtered from Known Villains]
Seems like we've got a few new threats to worry about. I'm sure that with the Blue Rogues and Brave Vesperia on the job, it'll be pretty safe, but doesn't it bug anyone that we can't do more to stop them? All we can really do is hold them back. Even death's just a temporary solution.
[He sighs. Mostly, he's just venting.]
Anyway, there's something I've been wondering. How many of you come from worlds where light and darkness actually means something? And by that I mean more than just lamps and shadows.

As far as light magic goes, my guild's master Makarov has a powerful spell which instantly defeats all of the people who he considers his enemies within a certain area. Also... [She briefly thinks of Gerard, but decides not to mention him. The memories are still painful.] there are others; it's much more common than darkness-based magic.
[Voice]
[A mockery of itself... sounds twisted.]
Huh. Sounds pretty powerful, not that I'm surprised. I've seen what light can do, and it's in a league of its own.
[Voice]
[She nods.] No matter how bad things may seem, light is always capable of dispelling the darkness and evil that surrounds us. That's what the master says, and so far, he's always been right.
[Voice]
[Heh.]
It wasn't until I embraced light and darkness that I found true strength.
[Voice]
How would rejecting darkness make a situation worse?
[Voice]
[Voice]
I see. [She's not going to bother asking what sorts of things resulted - she knows too well what could happen through Gerard's example.] And how do you use this darkness in a beneficial way?
[Voice]
In any case... heh. Beneficial.]
Because I don't use it to cause problems for other worlds. Even though I use darkness, I don't let it control me. The path I've chosen is between light and darkness; I use it to fight, but only against real threats.
[Voice]
And what sort of threats would those be?
[Voice]
The problem is, they're willing to risk innocent lives in order to get there.
