40 - video/action;

[Another day, and Riku's feeling fairly bored. He hasn't had a lot to say over the journals as of late, but hey, it's been a while. And with such an... interesting cycle, he might as well say something.

So, Lucetians, witness Riku as he boredly looks into this magical book and speaks.]

So. I think it's pretty obvious that Luceti's got some 'interesting' people around. Mice, rabbits, turtles, demons... I think you get the idea.

Some of you guys aren't as open to this as others. I know I've seen my share of human haters or people against some other group.

[Not that he's surprised; fear of what's different is natural to just about everything.]

So here's a question. What do you guys think of all the species or races that are different than yours? Especially if they're not from your worlds.

[Ah, the wonders of boredom. And since he's still bored...]

And while we're at it, suppose you could go back to your world with memories intact. If you learned about your future here, would you try and change any of it?

[With that out of the way, Riku's going to head down to the battle dome and start creating a quaint little simulation. With the new battle dome settings, Riku's taking advantage of the features in order to recreate one of the more peaceful worlds he's visited in great detail. Way to go, Riku.

Feel free to wander inside. He's definitely in need of some company right about now, and Traverse Town is pretty sweet.]

[Man, what a loaded question. Hitting a little close to home, though.]

...It's... pretty weird, seeing animals that can walk and talk. It's not like it's a bad thing, but... I guess I'm still freaked out by it all.

[Voice]

[personal profile] mistlegacy 2011-09-17 02:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't mind other species or races at all. Why would I? As long as they don't intend any harm, I'm fine with having them here...but that's what I think of humans, too.

...as for knowing the future, I'll pass.

[Voice]

[identity profile] stilldontgotit.livejournal.com 2011-09-17 03:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Nah, I get it. I figure it takes some getting used to.

[Le shrug.]

But you're talking to somebody who's close friends with a talking mouse, so it's second nature to me.

[Voice]

[identity profile] stilldontgotit.livejournal.com 2011-09-17 03:07 pm (UTC)(link)
See, that's pretty much what I think. But then you get people who think humans or some other species are a bunch of hate-filled monsters. If you ask me, it's pretty stupid of them.

[Well, more than 'pretty stupid.'

And he won't push about the future bit.]

[Voice]

[personal profile] mistlegacy 2011-09-17 03:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Stupid and wasteful. We have better uses of our time than to hate each other based on differences we had no control over. It's not as though we don't have enemies enough, anyway.

[Oh Nagisa definitely knows of someone who hates humans. sob.]

At first I thought it was really strange to have so many different species here... But now I think it's pretty nice and interesting, actually. And the species or race of someone doesn't change who the person is, so... There's no reason to dislike them for that, right?

And your second question, um.. Do you mean if we learned of our future in our world while here...?

... It's been a long time since I last saw this place.

[SURPRISE NINJA IN YOUR SIMULATION-- no, actually, Riku probably heard him coming. stealth is not his strong point.]

[Luceti both loves this question and makes it much more difficult than it ever needed to be.]

In the world I am from, there are countless kind of creatures. Some need others, and some can live alone. They exist naturally in the world no matter what they think of each other or how different they are. Humans are different from the rest for a number of reasons, but as a whole they are part of the world as well.

[simple.]

It is complicated here. There are creatures which think and speak like humans, but do not look like humans, or who resemble humans in every aspect but say that they are not. Even the ones who claim to be humans act differently from the ones I know, and have strange ideas.

I do not know what to think of it.

I think they're fine. It's nothing I'm familiar with from my world so it's a little strange, but I've gotten used to it now.

As for the second question, I guess it would depend on what I learned.

[Voice]

[identity profile] stilldontgotit.livejournal.com 2011-09-17 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Seriously. Besides, they're hypocrites if they say humans are all hateful. Isn't that just what they're doing?

It won't change a thing around here. Besides, it's like you said, we have enough to worry about.

[Voice]

[identity profile] stilldontgotit.livejournal.com 2011-09-17 05:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Basically. I've seen enough worlds to know that species isn't what actually counts. I've known gods, sea witches, and other creeps who were knee-deep in darkness.

But on the flip-side, I owe a lot to a talking mouse. He stood up for me when nobody else would.

So, I don't think it matters in the long run.

[KH is all about heart, anyway. Oh, Riku.

He pauses for a moment.]

As for the future, that's what I mean.

I knew you'd like it.

I guess it's not a big deal to me because I'm used to seeing different creatures that can talk and think like humans. Guess that's what happens when you visit other worlds.

As for humans having strange ideas, it probably has to do with where they're from. Different worlds mean different rules, and where you grow up and how you're raised have a pretty big influence.

Luceti's a place that takes people out of those worlds. Its rules are different, and the whole place is a free-for-all. The things we're used to really don't apply.

Yeah, I can see how it'd take some getting used to. When I first got here, it was a lot to take in.

And you've got a point about the second question. The reason I'm asking is because I did find out about my future, and it wasn't exactly pretty. Learning that you turn against your friends is pretty rough. And then there's the issue of changing the future. Making it better for yourself could make it worse for everyone else.

It's all pretty complicated.

There's danger in knowing too much and as you say, there's danger in changing the future. Butterfly effect, basically.

Same for the past. Even if there are things I wish I could change, you don't know how it might affect the present.

[Sora laughs too, although there's something of a pensive tinge there. bit of a rough start to the weekend, as it were.]

What made you pick Traverse Town?

[He shrugs, looking around the area. Riku definitely picked up on that pensive tinge, but he won't pry right now.]

It's peaceful compared to a lot of the worlds I visited.

[Before things got out of hand.]

Sometimes it's better to just move forward. It's easy to look back and wish things had been different, but there's no changing what's already been done.

Very true, even if the unknowns of the future can be scary. But that is life.

I don't think I'd want to know my future. Ruins some of the surprise.

[Holy Arceus on a stick, it's a Reasonable Person.]

It seems to be a deeper difference than just in knowledge - but I am not a human, so I do not know for sure. Humans mean certain things to my kind, and it is difficult to understand when they act strangely. The rules are different.

There are people here who refuse to understand that other worlds are different from their own, or assume arrogantly that what they know of their own is more valuable than any others. It is insulting and inexcusable.

[Someone's a little bitter.]

[identity profile] soracles.livejournal.com 2011-09-17 06:50 pm (UTC)(link)
[Sora can't disagree with that. when he was younger, Traverse Town was something of a starting point to every other task he started out on-- somewhere to go to regroup, rethink, recharge. somewhere to go if an injury was just beyond the group's curing capabilities.]

[this world's purpose exists with a price: with the loss of other worlds, but Sora would have been lost without it.]

Yeah. Want me to show you my favorite spot in town?

[Riku never stuck around long enough to really form an attachment. He was here to find Sora and probably did some exploring, but as soon as he did see him, things went downhill.

Still, the place has a nice feeling to it. So, he'll nod.]

Yeah. Go ahead; I've got time.

Some people expect everything to work the way it did back in their worlds. They think their ideas of right, wrong, and what's normal are all that counts.

It's ridiculous, if you ask me. Even the definition of 'human' changes from place to place. Some can use magic, others can't. Some are the dominant species, others aren't.

There are too many worlds out there to place under one world's standards.

Plus, knowing the future's a burden sometimes. It's easier to live life without worrying about what happens next.

Is it truly possible to change a future that's already occurred; or do you merely change the form of the thing while the essence remains? Do you only fight if the prediction is unhappy, and follow it blindly if it promises good fortune?

Good or bad, the future is better unknown. If you live life only looking ahead for answers, you neglect the present. That isn't living.
