[So, in light of Robert's recent post and that last experiment, Riku's decided that now would be the best time to explain a thing or two.

So, yes, he's actually using the journals again. Gasp.]

So, I take it that most of you dealt with the star-shaped fruit from last month. Well, first of all, they're called paopu fruit. Second, the paopu at the beach were not normal by any means.

Paopu don't mess with your heads usually. They definitely don't give you the sudden urge to make friends at the drop of a hat. That's not to say they're just ordinary, but they're definitely not harmful. So, since somebody might be harvesting them, I wouldn't stress it.

[Hmm... He pauses for a moment, pondering something real quick, and then he continues.]

What I will say is that the paopu are a pretty big deal back home. There's this whole legend about them. Basically, if two people share them, their destinies become intertwined. They'll remain a part of each others' lives no matter what. Some people see it as romantic, others just treat it like an unbreakable connection.

And whether it's true or not... well, I'll just put it this way; I've seen a lot stranger things in the worlds I've visited than a legendary fruit. Could all be superstition, but who knows? Maybe it's legit.

Still, I wonder why the Malnosso have a weird fixation with Valentine's anyway.

That's a little weird.. Usually they don't use that many stuff specific to one place, or at least, not enough that I've actually heard someone recognize the things they use before out loud.

Maybe that's exactly why they picked that of all things.

You know, to annoy some specific people even more, aside from the involuntary effects from those things.

You know, I wouldn't put that past them. They've done it before.

See? They're just practising the same old behaviour, except now they're trying to insult people's home worlds along with it.

Who knows? Maybe they'll start taking ideas from other worlds, too.

I'd prefer it if they didn't take any from mine, although for other reasons. It's just that back in my world they tended to be a little too.. creative.

No, it's nothing I would put past them. It's just a whole lot less innocent compared to letting people fall into some sort of puppy love with fruit.

... Even if that in itself is pretty messed up in its own way.

Well, it's not like they haven't done some brutal experiments in the past. Last Halloween and the year before it were both pretty messed up.

I only vaguely heard stuff about what happened the year before, but.. yeah, I'll admit that was on the brutal side. It's common in my world though, so I guess I'm just used to it by now.

Maybe that gives you an edge. If you're used to it, then it probably doesn't hit you as hard as some of the others here.

In a way that's true, yeah. There's little they could still do to surprise me by now.

Same here, but I guess being here for three years has made just about everything feel pretty standard.

So they haven't much more creative over time more so than they were at the beginning for you, huh? Sounds pretty boring.

Yeah, their creativity's pretty lacking. They mostly like embarrassing us.

Maybe they just value the entertainment aspect of it so much that they don't even care anymore that it's repetitive.

Yeah, probably. We keep giving them some pretty harsh reactions, too. No wonder they keep doing it.

Certain people just keep screaming about it over and over too. You'd think they would get used to it after a while, but their reaction keeps being the same.

Do you really think the people here would sink that low?

Oh, that's nothing new. You should've seen some of their journal entries a few years back. There was this whole bandwagon about the weather.
