Heh. The end of the year. Time sure flies, huh? This marks the third winter I've spent holed up in this place. Now, I could get all nostalgic about how things changed, but frankly? I'm sure you guys are tired of that by now.

There's... something else on my mind, though. Something I've thought about for a while, about the way this place works.

[He pauses for a few seconds, mulling over how to properly phrase this...]

Anyway, I'm sure most of you guys are familiar with the way people vanish out of the blue just like I'm sure you're used to people showing up without a single memory of their time before. Assuming they'd been here, anyway. But sometimes people come back with memories fully intact or those memories return after a quick reminder. I've even seen a few cases of somebody coming back as a blank slate and showing up again later with memories from a visit before the last.

Maybe I'm over thinking it, but have you guys ever thought that maybe the people who show up without memories might be different versions of someone rather than the same person with those memories wiped out? Now, I'm not saying people actually remember this place back home; I've gone back twice and I sure didn't. And, sure, timelines probably factor into it, but who's to say there can't be, say... twin versions of the same world?

Just some food for thought, I guess.

[Okay, and with that silliness out of the way, Riku can be seen in a few different places. First, there's the Community Housing 1 building, where he can be found feeding a big ol' chocolate cake and some colorful ice cream to his Dream Eater. Upon eating the goods, his bat sparkles and glows. Feel free to boggle at this.

Outside, he can be found strolling along in the snow for a bit. Aftr a while, however, he gives into some silly urges. What kind of silly urges, you ask? Snowballs, of course. He won't be outright malicious, but if he sees any familiar faces he miiight just toss a little snow their way. After all, it's been far too long since he's done something silly like that.

Otherwise, he can be seen practicing some magic out by the forest. And by magic I of course mean summoning gigantic, colorful balloons that explode. What's all that about?]

[Red's good enough with the controls to actually shake Riku's hand without crushing it, thankfully.]

Nice to meet ya, Riku! So, where do we start?

Well, first I have to try and pass on the power. Keep in mind that I've never done this before.

[But, hmm. Let's see... How did Aqua do it before?

He pauses momentarily, stroking his chin. He turns his gaze to the ground, moves his hand to the front of his vest and then...

His Keyblade returns to his grip, and he lifts it, sparks glowing at the tip. While it looks as if he's going to strike, he instead sends a faint, yellow glow flying Red's way.

It... probably won't have a noticeable effect at first. Red might not even feel all that different, really. But once he's done his thing, he'll dismiss his weapon and lower his arm to his side, a hand pressed against his hip.]

Okay, if that actually worked, you might be able to generate static and a few sparks. It'll probably take at least a few weeks to work your way up to a basic thunder spell, maybe a month or more. Best advice I can give you is to focus.

[It's what he had to do, and he had to learn a lot of magic, not just Thunder - Thundaga.]

[As the entire display unfolds, Red sits there, not sure what to make of things - he thought Riku was going to shock him at first! The glowing power settles into Red, and he relaxes somewhat.]

What was-- you can really do that?! Can ya pass on that balloon spell you were usin' earlier too?

[Might as well diversify. He's already thinking of how to use Dahak with those things.]

Well, let's not get ahead of ourselves. It's probably better to start with one at a time; trust me, toggling multiple spells takes practice. When Aqua tried teaching me, I once cast Fire instead of Blizzard.

[And boy was that frustrating.]

Eh, fine. I'm gonna want to learn all of 'em, just so y'know.

[Anyway, to the business at hand. Red closes his eyes again, this time trying to feel something different. Aha, there it is; it's weak, but distinct from the power that Tsinku gave him. He summons that up, holding his hand out once again--]

[It's even weaker than what Tsinku started him out with. Just a few little sparks. It's something, though, and that makes Red smile. Maybe if he combined the two powers... but that's an experiment for later.]

So I just keep doin' this?

Basically. The trick's to keep focusing-- try to get a picture in your head of the spell you're casting. Makes things a million times easier when you start packing more than one.

[As if to demonstrate, he'll cast a Blizzaga spell, coating part of the ground in a slick layer of ice.]

It'd probably help to train yourself up in the battle dome, too. Especially since thunder magic's usually offensive.

Already on it! I'll start trainin' this magic there too!

[A mental image, though... hm. He could use the Thundaga spell, but that level of power would take months to get to.]

Ya wanna fire off one of the weaker thunder spells so I can see what I'm aimin' for?

Sure. Just one second...

[He raises his Keyblade just like before, sending another flash of lightning surging towards the ground. This time, however, it's a smaller cluster of bolts, one third as many as before.]

That'd be your basic Thunder spell. Once you get the hang of that, you'll want to shoot for Thundara and then Thundaga.

Think I got it memorized. Thunder, Thundara, Thundaga... weird names.

[Red focuses on the new power again, letting the tiny sparks dance around one finger. It's still exciting, but one thing's bothering him.]

Hey, ya sure you won't gimme any more spells? I'm not gonna practice 'em anywhere dangerous.

Maybe in a few weeks. Let's see how this first spell goes and then we can start branching out.

For now, just consider this a test run.

Alright, alright. I'll practice Thunder for now.

[That he does, playing around with the new spell. He might be able to manage a severely miniaturized version of the actual attack in a day or so, but for now it's just little jolts.]

Where'd ya learn all this stuff, anyway?
