[There are a few drops of ink on the page, followed by something scratched out beyond legibility. A few moments later, Riku writes something below:]

If you had to choose between a friend dying or having to destroy the person who's causing it, even if they're just as important... which would you choose? It's not like death here's permanent, but I don't think that changes much.

[There's another pause, followed by a soft sigh. After that, nothing.]

Will something happen to either if the other dies? Will the former get better? How is the latter killing off the other? [he doesn't expect Riku to answer those questions - just consider them]

... If you're gonna lose someone important either way, do what you think is best for everyone involved.

I just wonder... If it's going to happen anyway, is it even worth waiting until things get worse?

[It's a grim thought, and he certainly doesn't want anything drastic to happen, but it hurts seeing this happen to Xion and Sora.]

... There's really no other way to save her, huh?

None that I can think of. And, believe me, I've tried.

It's just... all this stuff about memories and the Keyblade. I'm from before all that, so most of the time it goes over my head.

And what about everyone who's after that? This... tch, what are their names-- Axel and Roxas?

They probably do know, but even then... Nobody knows better than Xion. She's been through this before.

A few months, and that's if we're lucky.

... And those months might be nothing but waiting for the inevitable.

Exactly. And it'll be rough for them both.

From what she told me, there's little chance the other two are gonna go with that. [eyes the writing]

And would you be the one to do it?

If what she said's true, then she'll wind up turning into a monster.

But if that's what she wants, I'd... try, I guess. Problem is, I know I wouldn't stand a chance. No Keyblade, no magic. I'd probably be the one who gets killed.

... She's not gonna kill you. [heavy pause, and then checks to make sure the filter is aimed at Riku only]

I already promised her that much.
