So... suppose you've been dating someone for, say, about a year. Your first anniversary's coming up, and you really want to blow them away.

[Heh, heh. It's something that's been on his mind for several days now. A whole year is a big deal for someone whose last romantic affairs ended in utter despair. Or heartbreak, at the very least.]

I've got a few ideas, but... well, I don't want to give her anything short of the best. I want it to be something she'll remember.

So, yeah, if anyone's got suggestions, I'm all ears.

I think it helps plenty. Ino would be unimpressed if you got her a lot of these things. [Even re-looking some of them over it sounds nuts.] I mean- a cannon?

Believe me, the cannon wasn't one of my considerations. I was thinking more along the lines of the necklace... Stuff that has more personal meaning.

She'd like that, yeah. She's the romantic type.

And that's what I'm going for, more than anything. I want to do more than just grab some stuff from one of the shops and leave it at that.

Thought about taking her out to the lake for good measure, as long as the weather's not too hectic.

Why not the ocean? Back home, we don't get out that far unless it's a mission. Kind of a treat when we do.

[But that would probably depend even more on the weather. March has hit and miss days.]

You sure it'll be warm enough? We were planning on hitting the beach at some point; I just don't want her to get cold, either.

But I guess that's what blankets and fire are for.

If it doesn't work out, you can try something else. Sans the hit springs, anywhere outdoors is a gamble. But if that fails, you could always find one of those empty apartments and have a date night to yourselves.

Right. Guess a little quiet time to ourselves wouldn't hurt if all else fails. Sometimes keeping it simple is the best.

That you're planning something is probably already a gold star in her book. Ino's the type to remember dates.

True, and we both know it's been coming up for a while. Some people forget those kind of details, and I can't even imagine how that'd feel.

I just hope she likes what I do have planned. I'd hate to let her down.

Don't sweat it. If she's as attached to you as I think she is... it'll work as good as expected.
