But...

Why? It was mine. That's how it should've been from the start.

[Who's pissed? Riku's pissed. He's tried a number of times. The Keyblade-- he had it in his grasp. Though he doesn't recall every detail as for why or how, that doesn't matter. The fact is that he did have it... only now it's gone.

He's been trying to call back the weapon a number of times with no avail. Maybe whatever transpired the past week was just an experiment after all.

But he hasn't been at the apartment all day. It's frustrating, really. He knows it's too much to ask for, that Sora's the one who earned it by being the bigshot hero.

But jealousy is one thing that hasn't changed about Riku.

In his frustration, he's made his way back out to the lake where, after giving up on the Keyblade, he's promptly gathering logs and branches. Any distraction is good right about now.]

[ Since the moment she turned back to normal, Xion's been thinking of going to find Riku. To explain, maybe apologize, and see if whatever went wrong could be fixed.

But then she hears this.

She hears this, and it's like being stabbed right in the heart. The jealousy, so clear and bitter and unhappy.

From the start...

It's a long time before Xion can find a way to reply to that. She can't remember if she's ever -- ever -- felt this betrayed. The thing he covets so dearly, the thing he so obviously, desperately wishes he possessed... the thing she had, and the thing which ultimately killed her: the Keyblade. She died for having it, painfully, brutally, twice ... and he still wants it.

Sometimes, Riku, there are lines you cross ... over which you can't go back.

Xion's voice is very blank when she speaks. ]

It takes a long time for Riku to respond as well. He should have known she'd be upset, but he didn't even mean to say that-- not to have it recorded anyway.

Yeah, he's in deep trouble.]

[Sigh.]

It's hard. Knowing I was supposed to get the Keyblade, I mean. Seeing Sora and Roxas with theirs...

I shouldn't have said anything.

[ before Xion replies, she takes a moment to very deliberately remove the filter he's placed on this conversation. She doesn't care, right now, if anyone hears what she's got to say. In fact, she sort of wants them to. Maybe she's being petty, or childish, but she's never felt hurt like this before, and she's just got no idea how to handle it.

But you still said it. And even if you hadn't said it, you still would have been thinking it, right? You just said you were supposed to get it! Why do you even care about it that much?! [ her voice is tight and so, so angry. ]

Do you know what happened the very first time I spoke to you, Riku? Back home? We fought, and you beat me easily. It was so frustrating. You had this sword... and it wasn't a Keyblade. Maybe that's what you should be looking for instead.

[ a beat. ] And you know what, Riku? [ so bitter. and now, just ... upset. upset, unhappy, and deeply hurt. ] For once, sorry isn't going to cut it.

[ with that, she rather violently slams the journal shut. and possibly throws it across the room before storming out.

that may have possibly, maybe, unfortunately, and rather abruptly been her way of breaking up with him. oh dear. ]

[...He has no idea how to respond to that. The Keyblade is his responsibility, his way of making things right in the world - but it's different for Roxas, and different again for Xion, and it caused a lot of trouble even if it did heal more than it hurt.]

[Sora isn't the most mature of people a lot of times, but even he can see how Riku's thoughts would be detrimental to others. He hasn't gone through the fire yet, and it shows.]

...You should probably know, we can hear you.

[And Sora's totally got a :/ face going on.]

Yeah. Like with Xion, Riku takes his sweet time before responding. While he's still extremely pissed and jealous, he's calmed down a little since the end of... whatever took over the village these past few days.]

Guess I'm in trouble, huh?

Probably, but I'm not the one you've gotta be worried about with this.

[And it's all the old subjects coming back up - he still remembers very clearly what happened in Hollow Bastion - how the Keyblade abandoned him and went to Riku.]

Yeah, I know. Xion wouldn't even listen to me, and I'm sure Axel and Roxas won't even give me a chance.

[Well, the lake wasn't one of his primary destinations for the day, but having taken a detour from checking the stations made him unconsciously walk down the familiar path, landing there instead. To say he was surprised to see someone else there was probably accurate enough, and he ponders for a moment if he should leave him alone. At least, he's not so embarrassed with Riku about being seen as a girl as he was with others.

After a few seconds, he decides to go greet him anyway. Better than coming off as a creepy stalker of sorts.] Hey, Riku.

[Riku doesn't respond at first, or even notice Ted. He's too miffed, really. If you want his attention, you'll have to speak again or be louder.]

[Well, someone's not being social today.] Hey, Riku!

[AND... freeze!

He tenses up, but nonetheless he glances back at Ted.]
